The word Sabbath is related to a Hebrew root that means "cease" or "stop". It is a practice that God commanded His people to follow, so they could rest, refresh, and refuel. God showed us the ultimate example when he stepped back from the creation of the world on the 7th day and rested. As His followers today, the practice of Sabbath is essential to a focused, intentional pursuit of Jesus. This means setting aside time that is dedicated to rest, enjoyment of God, and thankfulness for all He has done.
